The process in which a host organism maintains the structure and function of a symbiont-containing vacuole. The symbiont-containing vacuole is a membrane-bounded vacuole within a host cell in which a symbiont organism resides, and can serve to reduce pathogenicity of invading symbionts by restricting them to the vacuolar compartment.
