CD Definition:
Splicing factor, Prp19-binding domain; This family represents the C-terminus (approximately 300 residues) of proteins that are involved as binding partners for Prp19 as part of the nuclear pore complex. The family in Drosophila is necessary for pre-mRNA splicing, and the human protein has been found in purifications of the spliceosome. In the past this family was thought, erroneously, to be associated with microfibrillin.
