sorbose transmembrane transporter activity

id: GO:0019194
name: sorbose transmembrane transporter activity
namespace: molecular_function
type: go
obsolete: False

Description: Catalysis of the transfer of sorbose from one side of the membrane to the other. Sorbose is the ketohexose xylo-2-hexulose; L-sorbose is formed by bacterial oxidation of sorbitol. Sorbose is produced commercially by fermentation and is used as an intermediate in the manufacture of ascorbic acid.
