Rv0129c (Antigen 85-C precursor (85C) (Antigen 85 complex C) (Ag85C) (Mycolyl transferase 85C) (EC 2.3.1.-)) is predicted to be co-regulated in modules bicluster_0288 with residual 0.46 and bicluster_0384 with residual 0.49.

This regulation is possibly mediated by two de-novo identified cis-regulatory motifs in each module with e-values , 0.23 and 2,800.00 for bicluster_0288 and 0.00 and 0.58 for bicluster_0384 respectively.

These modules are enriched for following go terms: cellular component biogenesis, cellular component organization or bioge..., carbohydrate binding, acid-amino acid ligase activity .

This gene is found to be non-essential for growth on cholesterol.

extracellular region

extracellular region

Details:
The space external to the outermost structure of a cell. For cells without external protective or external encapsulating structures this refers to space outside of the plasma membrane. This term covers the host cell environment outside an intracellular parasite.

cell wall

cell wall

Details:
The rigid or semi-rigid envelope lying outside the cell membrane of plant, fungal, and most prokaryotic cells, maintaining their shape and protecting them from osmotic lysis. In plants it is made of cellulose and, often, lignin; in fungi it is composed largely of polysaccharides; in bacteria it is composed of peptidoglycan.

lipid transport

lipid transport

Details:
The directed movement of lipids into, out of or within a cell, or between cells, by means of some agent such as a transporter or pore. Lipids are compounds soluble in an organic solvent but not, or sparingly, in an aqueous solvent.

glycolipid biosynthetic process

Details:
The chemical reactions and pathways resulting in the formation of glycolipid, a class of 1,2-di-O-acylglycerols joined at oxygen 3 by a glycosidic linkage to a carbohydrate part (usually a mono-, di- or tri-saccharide).

response to antibiotic

response to antibiotic

Details:
Any process that results in a change in state or activity of a cell or an organism (in terms of movement, secretion, enzyme production, gene expression, etc.) as a result of an antibiotic stimulus. An antibiotic is a chemical substance produced by a microorganism which has the capacity to inhibit the growth of or to kill other microorganisms.

mycolate cell wall layer assembly

mycolate cell wall layer assembly

Details:
The aggregation, arrangement and bonding together of a set of components, including arabinogalactan mycolate and trehalose dimycolate, to form the mycolate layer of the Actinobacterium-type cell wall. The mycolate layer is physically attached to the peptidoglycan layer.

Cholesterol Essentiality t-test p-value Cholesterol/Glycerol Ratio
non-essential 0.070000 9.32

How essentiality calculations were done?

The relative representation of each mutant was determined by calculating the fold change (sequence reads/insertion in cholesterol divided by sequence reads/insertion in glycerol) for each gene. Statistical significance was determined by t-test. Each insertion site in each replicate sample was treated as a separate data point. The hyperbola used for defining genes specifically required for growth in cholesterol was defined by the formula, y = 3.8/x+0.7. Genes above this line are annotated as required for growth on cholesterol.
